Based on initial reports, a farmer in the Chinnasalem area has been robbed of ₹2.8 lakh after thieves broke into his two-wheeler. The incident occurred when the farmer, identified as Murugesan from Esapudur village in the Vepur taluk of Cuddalore district, had stopped to purchase liquor.
Murugesan and his wife had earlier visited a Canara Bank branch in Nainarpalayam village to redeem jewelry that had been pawned. Upon learning that the redemption process would be delayed, Murugesan reportedly sent his wife home by bus. He then proceeded to V. Krishnapuram village to visit a government-run liquor store.
According to reports, Murugesan had placed ₹2.8 lakh in the storage box of his two-wheeler and locked it before going to the liquor shop. Upon returning to his vehicle, he discovered that the storage box had been forcibly opened and the entire sum of ₹2.8 lakh was missing.
Following the discovery of the theft, Murugesan filed a formal complaint at the Keelkupam police station. Police have registered a case and have initiated an investigation into the incident. Authorities are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the theft and are working to identify the perpetrators.
