Based on reports from local sources, a large gathering of devotees took place at the Om Sri Minnal Kali Amman Temple in Pudu Pallasery village, near Thiyagadurgam in Kallakurichi district, Tamil Nadu, for a special Shakti Oli Vilakku Pooja. The event, held to mark the auspicious occasion of Thai month Amavasai, witnessed the participation of over 500 women seeking blessings for global well-being and prosperity.
The Shakti Oli Vilakku Pooja, a significant ritual involving the lighting of lamps, was conducted with several noble intentions. Devotees prayed for a disease-free world, an end to drought, consistent water levels in reservoirs, abundant rainfall, and a bountiful harvest of grains. These collective prayers reflect the community’s deep connection to nature and their aspirations for a harmonious and prosperous life.
Prior to the commencement of the Pooja, the presiding deity, Om Sri Minnal Kali Amman, was specially adorned and offered blessings to the assembled devotees. Following this, a large number of women actively engaged in the Shakti Oli Vilakku Pooja. They offered turmeric, kumkum (vermilion), and flowers as part of the rituals, performing special prayers for the fulfillment of their wishes, particularly those related to agricultural abundance and food security. The women collectively offered Deeparadhanai (the waving of lamps) to the numerous lit lamps and to the deity, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.
The temple administration played a key role in organizing the event. Following the elaborate Pooja ceremonies, prasadam, a blessed offering, was distributed to all the participants. This act of communal sharing marked the conclusion of the event, leaving devotees with a sense of spiritual fulfillment and collective hope for a better future. The large turnout at the Minnal Kali Amman Temple underscores the deep faith and community spirit prevalent in the region.
